We have been working on a MPC 4502 that is giving us trouble with the controller. We get the occasional SC998 and have tried various fixes to no avail. We have brought in a third tech and he has noticed that the print controller is losing power at regular intervals. I thought the noise was the fuser rotating in sleep mode, but never thought to time the noises. The controller is losing power at 60 second intervals that digress to 30 second intervals. Not only do the NIC led's go out, but the led's on the controller also. Has anyone else seen this before? It is rather curious behavior and we wonder if it is controller or power supply related. Thank you.

Re: MP C 4502 Print controller
Could be the line voltage from the wall socket. Especially if the building's environmental systems are trying to cope with the varying temperatures that happen this time of year (air conditioning and heating systems contain some very large electric motors which can cause a surge as they switch on and off).Comment

Re: MP C 4502 Print controller
The first one of these we got off the truck and installed worked for 3 weeks then all of sudden wouldnt turn on, found one of the leads on the power supply (white / black) connectors, the wire actually slipped out of the back of the connector a little bit so even though it looked connected when I removed and looked inside you could see the wire was backout a bit just enough to not contact the PSU. Otherwise no havent not had an issue with controller losing power.
Check the wires and check the wall outlet while the machine is running test plug for drops, my bet would be not enough power being supplied by the outlet when the machine is running and fusing.Comment
