WIM cannot add, change addressbook entries

I have a customer with a MP C4502 wjo cannot access the address book to add or change entries. He can access WIM, login as admin, and open the address book. When he clicks on either add or change, he gets a blank page. Reboot the MP C4502 yesterday and we were able to access. Today the same problem. I plan to go out Monday and reload all firmware. Anyone with any other suggestion?

It kind of sounds like the machine is using DHCP and had to be rebooted to get a network address problem fixed or something. I'm not sure, but if time permits you might check that.

Fixed IP. Prints fine. Scans fine except for the user he wants to change.

Just a guess, but make sure SP5985 is set to "1" for the NIC.

I think that "0" is "Disabled", and "2" is "Limited".

I've seen some wierdo shit when a hard drive was replaced. Entries form the WIM show up in the WIM, not thru the UT address book access and visa versa. Formating the new hard drive and executing dp5846- 050 to initial the address book fixed that issue.

Does it have a fax unit? The mp6001 had an issue where the routing of the fax board cables made it not see the fax and had the exact problem you have. Make sure that the fax boards are all plugged in tightly and that the cables aren't pulling on the boards. There is also a jumper that needs to be set to on, can't think of which board now, maybe someone else remembers.

Have you tried different browsers? Some versions of Chrome and IE can give some weird faults.

Personally I'd try using SmartDeviceMonitor instead.

I was there today. From my laptop (XP home) connected directly, I have no problem with either IE or Firefox. One of the customer's computers also works. The others do not.

A little more on the symtoms. With the current firmware, WIM gives you the option of displaying either "All" of the address book entries or "Specified No. of Entries".

Set for "All" you have Wizard mode of Manual mode. In either mode, you get what looks like Pop-Up window when you click either "Add" or, after selecting an entry, "Change". From my laptop and the customer computer that works, it takes about 5 or 6 seconds for the entry screen to come up. From the other computers, the entry screen never comes up. Browser back button takes you back to the WIM home page.

Set for "Specifiied", the entry screen comes up immediately o the machine that work. On those that do not work, you immediately get either a "Cannot connect to web page", "Error opening", or "Connection reset by server" message. Browser back button takes you back to the address book display.

I am thinking that the problem is either a browser setting, machine firewall setting, local policy setting. I just do not want to just go in making changes without know in advance what to look for. I believe that they are using Kaperski anti virus software.
