    Mpc305spf... not waking up.

    Good day All.
Have any you had any issues with the Mpc305spf not waking up from sleep mode. We installed one last week and were called out later that day because all attempts to bring it out of sleep mode failed. The little square blue light and evil flashing eyes were present, but nothing could wake it from it's slumber. I've sent off a sample to check for Bear DNA...
Pressing buttons, shoving paper in the DF or lifting the lid has no affect. Even pressing the evil eyes for multiple seconds gives no result. There is a randomness to it too. If you wake it shortly after it goes to sleep, it usually comes around within 120sec of going into sleep mode. Anything longer that 3min and a high percentage of the time it won't wake up. We wondered if there was some issue with the network connection causing it, but the results from testing with and without network cable were even more random.
We haven't had this issue on any of our other machines out there.
    Thanks for your time.

Does it still print even when it looks asleep. There was a TSB on these for the LCD not coming on, the machine would print and such but no display, its a firmware related issue and needs the LCDC updated. Anytime a machine doesn't wake up from energy saver i go right to firmware.

Thanks Counsel. The firmware was updated to current before it went out last week. I agree with you that it may be firmware, even if it is current. I haven't tried printing in that state, will pop by the customer and give it a go. You're a star

Paul, thank you for you kind offer for Tech manuals, but I get them for free from those lovely people at Ricoh

I noticed that Counsel mentioned that it might be a LCDC issue. Make sure that you updated the LCDC. Many techs, myself included, don't update the LCDC unless they know it is a mandatory update.

You must install operation panel lcdc firmware 1.18.1 and 1.18.2

Thanks fellas, I'll be popping past the customer to have a look at the things you mention. I know our IT guy always loads the latest FW on the machines before they go out, but you never know he may have missed this one In the mean while, I've set the sleep timer to max 4hrs and hope they use the machine in that time lol
