Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 Z-Fold jamming at registration

Hi,

I have a Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 that jams every 10 pages or so at the registration roller. I noticed that the roller does not have a clutch on it. Could it be the one way bearing or the drive motor for the roller?

2 possibilitys I know of. Remove reg guide and inspect the mylar behind it for cuts and wear. Replace the PTR (b2236264 from memory) as I have seen these cause z fold for no obvious reason.

seen them reg guides slightly bent giving intermittent z folds as well.

Some machines do not use a registration clutch. They use a motor that drives only the registration roller. If 0 he motor has a dead spot, you will get intermittent jams. Another problem could be the relay clutch sticking. Relay roller dooes not stop soon enough and you get a z-fold jam.

One more thing, did you check the paper in the tray. I had a call one time for jamming. Every tenth sheet of paper had about a one inch z-fold. Apparantly had come from the paper mill that way. Folded before being cut to final size.
