Why Auto Off Timer Grayed Out ?

I've seen this a fair amount on machines where the auto off feature is grayed out so can't be used and I can never remember why that is. What settings do I need change so that can be used again ? I know its enabled when new but when I get older models in seeing lots not able set anymore. Seems older I get trying remember all these settings, the more I seem to forget. Thanks for any help !

I've seen it on various ones, MP5000, MPC4500, MPC5000, MPC3300, MPC2800 and MPC2550 which is where I saw it yesterday and wanted to change it.

Usually that means the AOF feature under User Tools has been turned off. Which then means the machine always stays on, so no need to set Auto Off timer. I think this setting is under User Tools-System Settings- Administrator tools-AOF.
