Re: MP C2500 fuser belt scratches

We had a lot of trouble with that fuser belts.........a lot of machines with scratches on the belt, seems to be a known problem, normally it happens when the machine didn't work for a while, we had a lot of refurbished machines, 9 of them with scratches on the belt.

Thanks for all the advice! Yes the machine is from 2007, what was printed on it, unfortunately I do not know.
We ordered more parts than just a belt so we'll see

For information: I tried to fill the belt by soft resin, it worked just for a while after about 100 copies the resin absorb toner and cracks are back

    Thank you very much

Is there any chance you are using ink jet paper? That will wreck fuser belts faster than you'd think. The coating on that type of paper is extremely abrasive when used in a heat based fuser.

30k clicks isn't a lot but considering the age of the machine (2006/2007 era) it's not an uncommon issue. Depending of the condition of the other parts one might even recomment to use a PM kit since it'sprobably not much more expensive compared to some single parts (fuser belt/oil roller are pricey). I also recommend to replace the press roller thermistor - the themistor element usually likes to loose contact with the metal plate causing some temperature offset and/or fuser SCs.

Because the oil supply roller gets contaminated and dries out over time, which means, not only will it not effectively clean the fuser, it can also cause wear on it

You will also need to replace the oil supply roller and cleaning roller when changing the fusing belt.

The belt is constantly heated, cooled and reheated; making it expand and contract. This means the belt has a life, and will need to be replaced once that life is reached.

thank you, it is no problem to change it, we have a lot of screwdrivers (and hammers also
i bought it after about 10k copies (during about 4 years) and last year we print about 20k.

    How these cracks are formed?

I highly doubt it has only done 30,000 pages since production, not unless it has been siting idle for some years; more likely someone has been giving it a "haircut". Anyway, the belt should be replaced if it is damaged, or feels like it has any pits or bumps. You can attempt it yourselves but you will need a manual, some screwdrivers and circlip pliers.

    MP C2500 fuser belt scratches

Hi, i have MP C2500 and after about 30 000 clicks i have non linear scratches on paper. I found it is on fuser belt (6!).
How is it possible? High tension or temperature?
Can i repair belt without changing it? - we need print immediately Fill it with any temperature resistant glue or rubber?
    Thank you very much
