MPC5000 Data Clearing for lease return

I need help 'sanitizing' a MPC5000 and the IKON DOCSEND for a lease return. I've deleted address book and user codes, but I need to be sure that there is no remaining data.
The machine has to be in operating condition, so removing HDD is not an option.
Thanks in advance for any help (I'm not Ricoh trained, so be kind)

I use miray hard drive shredder to Clear hard drives to what ever spec's a customer wants(DOD,NSA,ect). You do have to remove the drive and put it into a usb adapter, and it does take sometime so bill accordingly. Then in SP mode 5801-xxx clear the NCS,printer app, scanner app, Fax app. Do not clear the engine or you will have a bad day......

For a quick and easy way I would do a memory clear SP5801 on 006, 007 (if fax option is installed), 008, 009 and 011.

Under User Tools -> Printer Features, run the locked jobs and temp jobs deletion options. Just in case any files are still in memory.

In System Settings -> Administrative Tools, you can delete the document server files as well as go through the address book. I would recommend that you use the web manager to delete the address book, just in case there are any hidden entries.

In the web manager some companies enter a customer name or location, I seem to remember seeing one around somewhere; but cannot remember exactly where.

Thanks, ruben, that took care of the machine; now for the EFI DOCSEND, I don't have a clue what I can delete or reformat and leave the Fiery operational.

You might take a look at this. I've never done this, you may have to reload the system software afterwards, and I'm sure any fiery patches installed will be deleted, but the HDD should be clean. Be careful with this. Setting up this particular Fiery controller took a couple of days with all the patches installed. It's an exhaustive process.

Thanks, this will be helpful for the next time - the truckers just loaded up the equipment.

There seems to be a bit of confusion here.

The IKON DocSend is certainly an EFI product, (OEMed for IKON), but it is purely a scanning solution (very similar to an eCopy ScanStation), and has nothing at all to do with printing. It connects to the MFP using the machine's TWAIN driver, just like eCopy does.

In short, the DocSend is NOT a Fiery.

Being a Windows PC (I think that they were all XP), you could uninstall the DocSend software, but you would need the install files to bring it back to being operational. Of course, the only way to truly wipe it would be a total reformat or replacement of the HDD, then re-installing the OS from the ground up, or re-imaging.

Thank you for the clarification; I'm relieved that there was no data stored there since it's already out the door.

If the MP C5000 has Data Overwrite Security then the HDD should already be clean of document data. If it does not, then tonerbomb's suggestion should be followed. If not there are those who can recover document data, both print and copy, from the HDD. Ricoh actually recommends removing the HDD and giving it to the original customers IT department to erase and return to you.
