    Scan to Email

I have two copiers (Ricoh MP2000 and MP4001) that is used to scan to email. A couple of weeks ago the internet was upgraded to a higher speed with the same company. Since the change the scan to email has stopped working.
Ive tried to change the smtp, to centurylink, Google, even my own smtp server. have even tried to use the IP address of these servers
I tried different port numbers 25,465,587
Entered the mac address into the router to allow it pass the firewall.
Nothing Ive done will allow these copiers to can to email.

In that case then I would speak to their IT dept to see if it needs server authentication or a relay through the exchange server

A couple of things come to mind:

          1. Does the SMTP server need authentication?
          2. Have you tried port 80?
          3. Have you contacted the ISP, or had the router rebooted?

Another thing to look at is the copier error log. Once the scan to email fails there should be an error code logged in the copier.

The way I typically access it is through WIM, Configuration, System Log.

There must have been more than just upgrading the internet speed that was changed. Most likely the email provider and the ISP are not the same and the ISP changed to one that blocks ports 25, 465, and 587 to any SMTP server other than their own or if the same ISP now are blocking on the higher speed connection.

The two MFP's you mention are to old to support SMTP over SSL. If the ISP requires SMTP over SSL on their SMTP servers. Google is one of them. Google's non-SSL server uses port 25 and if that is blocked by the ISP it won't work.

One option would be try and see if their email provider can use port 80. The ISP cannot block port 80 as it is the standard browser port. One email provider that I know of that does use port 80 is secureserver.net.

I think in there lies the problem, they have no IT to speak of, all they have is a guy that knows a guy that is good with computers. So i think I'm having to fix several peoples mistakes.

                1. I have tried with and without authentication
                2. Haven't tried port 80 that will be on my list of attempts
                3. I did contact the ISP, and all they gave me was the SMTP server name and port number, which i tried to use with no success.

As from what they tell me, the only thing that "changed" was the upgrade to the faster DSL. There was a changed to the SMTP from smtpauth.centurytel.net to smtp.centurylink.net. but trying both of those didn't work. I will try port 80 when I go back out on site.

i was reading on port numbers, do u think port 2525 would work in this case?

I'm betting that the new SMTP server requires SSL. You have yet to address that question.
Do they use this ISP for their internal mail accounts? If so, then check the account settings and then use the same on the machine, but if SSL is checked, give up, you'll have to find an alternative

                    Right on sandmanmac!!

P.S. if they use cox in the US, try 68.99.120.5, or smarthost.coxmail.com, requires a static ip in the router from cox for authentication and relay from a valid cox email address.
