Working on an Aficio 3030 that gives intermittent J011 jam. Sometimes there will be nothing in the paper path, at other times there will be one sheet of paper peaking out from tray one. This only occurs when feeding from tray 1. Tray 2 feeds fine. I have swapped feed rollers and DFP unit between trays and swapped in a new roller. I have cleaned all sensors in paper path and this still happens. The clutches appear to turn correctly. What am I missing? Please help. Thank you.

If everything is working as you say, then I'd lean towards the tray lift assembly main springs -

We have found that to be the case too. A needle nose works well to put an extra kink in the spring to increase tension. If it's still jamming, I'd look at the clutch(es).....Comment

Ricoh clutches aren't the best ones. Allthough they seem to be working, I would replace them. If they are slipping a bit, it's enough to cause a jam. If there's nothing in the paper path, it means the machine can't get the paper out of the tray. If the Feed Rollers are ok, the Paper Feed Clutch is the next suspect.Comment

you should also remove the paper drawer and make sure the paper lift gear doesn't have a hairline crack in it.Comment

Re: Aficio 3030 J011 jam code.
I actually use a small zip tie, stick it into the spring and out the end about a half inch or so and pull it tight. however on this model i would go with a new clutch first, or swap the clutch with tray 2 and test it if it works then the clutch is bad.Comment

You might make sure the friction pad is installed correctly. A couple of times I had that stiff piece of plastic in the drawer get stuck underneath the friction pad when I replaced it, which caused something like this.
Also, you might try checking the settings for tray 1 in user tools. Wrong settings there can cause this to happen on some machines.Comment
