Ricoh 3035/ Gestetner DSm735 Scanning question

I am having issues scanning to folder. This is a Windows 7 machine I am scanning to. If I enter Windows Credentials in the address book section for smb I get a "transmission has failed" Message. If I don't enter in credentials then the machine will just display "waiting" in the scanned files status. I just updated firmware to a4_1.07. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you update ALL of the frimware or just the system??? the network related frimware has to be current, if it is try turning off password protected sharing in windows. Also do you have the folder permissions set correctly??

Are these the most update firmware for the machine? I just updated last week. I have password protection currently off. I have also added everyone as a read/write in the scans folder. If I browse the network from the copier I can see the scans folder on the PC.

Tonerbomb is right: the Network firmware is what controls the Samba level used by the machine. This model should be able to support SMB2 as used by Windows 7. Is the machine in a domain or workgroup envrinoment?

Make sure that Network & Sharing Center -> Change advanced sharing settings -> Turn on file & printer sharing and Enable file sharing for devices that use 40- and 50-bit encryption are both enabled.

If the PC is on a fixed IP try to use that, if not use the hostname. Also, if the PC is on a domain make sure you use a domain qualifier for the username, either domain\username or username@domain. Always specify the username, even if you don't use a password. You can find the exact username by using command prompt -> set user

Make sure that the user on the workstation has a password, since W7 you do need a Login and password, if not it won't work, no blanco password or so...
Also make sure that Netbios is enabled in TCP/IP settings (disabled by default since W7)

If the device is saying "waiting" it usually means it either cant authenticate or something is stopping it from writing to the folder. Turn off password protected sharing then at least you will know its not an authentication issue

try to disabled the antivirus first then test a scanning, waiting is folder sharing issue, try to create another folder in different area, then share to everyone read/write, then also the security should be share to everyone.

So there's a lot that could go on here. You'll need to know first how the scanner communicates with the domain. If you're pointing out to a computer by name, you'll need to know that DNS is working. The scanner itself isn't an object on the domain, so for testing I usually strip out any chance of DNS getting in the way. I use the destination computer's IP Adddress first, makings sure the username used for authentication is in domain\username format. Start from there and see how things go.

Network support 5.12.5 is the proper level for SMB to Windows 7. If you need to scan to Windows 8, there is a Special/Custom firmware for that released 4/1/13.
