[Electrical] SP3500SF .....Display in Chinese after Controller swop !!!!!!

Fault was "Scanner Carriage Error" on display , have swopped Controller PCB, which has cleared fault,
machine reboots , shows "INITIALISING" then "Please Wait", then shows an option in CHINESE,
No ref to this in manual, can anyone help or translate ?????? see attached pic

Sounds like the controller board you put in had the Chinese language loaded and selected. You could see if you can get into User Tools and change the language. You might have to update the language firmware.

Cannot get to any other machine functions till I choose one of the options,don't want to choose wrong option incase I permanently fix it in Chinese !!!

I haven't tried it, but get a photo and see if you can somehow copy that into Google Translate - you might be able to tell what to press to access the functions.

When you "swopped the controller" which NVRAM did you put in the machine??? You should have put the machines original NVRAM on the new controller.......

No nvram , dipswitch or jumpers on Controller PCB!! Probably just unlucky in receiving a Controller
with wrong Firmware .

In Engine Maintenance mode there is a destination setting, one of which is China. You just need to figure the steps to get there to change it to your location.

Destination
Sets the destination and updates the engine setting.
Do not change this setting (Designed for Factory Use).
DOM/ NA/ EU (Default)/ ASIA/ CHN/ TAIWAN/ KOREA


5.1.2 MAINTENANCE MODE MENU
To access Maintenance Mode do the following:
 Type the following keys, in sequence: [Clear/Stop] > [1] > [0] > [7]
 Hold down the [Start Key] until the Maintenance Mode screen is displayed.
Note: This should take about 3 seconds.
Selecting an Item
To select an item, press the "Up" or "Down" key.
Going into the Next Level/ Returning to the Previous Level
 To go into the next level of an item, select an item then press the "OK" key.
 To return to the previous level of an item, press the "Return" key.
Exiting the Maintenance Mode Menu
To exit the maintenance mode menu, press the "Clear/Stop" or "Return" key until the "Ready"
display appears.

This used to be quite a common problem on the old 2045's, cause was either a damaged or poorly connected ribbon cable between BICU and Controller board. I don't know if it's relevant in your case though.

Machine fixed!!! After doing a Factory Reset on a similar model
, the first question after reboot is LANGUAGE, and it gave all the 6 pages of choices in english.
So if you get a similiar problem, choose first option on page 1/6 to change default language to English !!!!
