we have a mp3353 with sc672-11 we have changed the controller board hdd and memory bicu and ipu and power supply board
the manual said communication problem with opps panel and controller board then copier is now in our workshop and I will change over the opps panel next week after that I will be at a loss for ideas anyone any other ideas.

Try removing the fax option. If the problem goes away, reseat or replace the MBU board on the FCU.

Longshot, but if it's every time, try disconnecting the ADF. The data cable used to cause problems on some older machines (AF1035 etc)

Also, I assume the all firmware is up to date?

Got the copier in the workshop we changed over the opps panel over with another machine and it worked.
I have taken the opps panel apart but cant see any damage etc there are a lot of boards in these units these days
but we don't have time to exchange each board in turn to narrow it down as doner copier is due to be delivered

Was this problem the original call or did it occur after being serviced? I found a few other causes for this error looking at different models, not sure if they would be relevant but worth a check. It could also be a faulty NVRAM.

[Symptom]
SC 672, SC 819 or SC 824 after replacing the NV RAM



[Cause]
SC 672 both NV RAM chips are in with the notch in the wrong direction
SC 819 NV RAM FRAM1 is in with the notch in the wrong direction
SC 824 NV RAM FRAM0 is in with the notch in the wrong direction

Check the setting of SP5-875-001. If the setting is set to "1(OFF)", change it to "0(ON)".

We are having the same issue on a mp c6003. We have changed the bcu, imageprocessor, hard drive, controller, nvram on the controller and bcu, op panel, upgraded all the firmware. Any help appreciated

I got the same problem on a 5503. I just ordered a controller and control panel. Sometimes my machine will come to ready but only the touch screen works, none of the hard keys work. So hopefully its the panel. Anybody got any other info on this. Thanks in advance

We actually tried another control panel today from another machine that we knew worked and it fixed the problem. The control panel was the first thing we had tried before going on the wild goose chase. Must have got sent a bad one. Hope yours works the first time,

The control panel fixed my problem. Talked to Ricoh engineering and they want me to send the old one to them and a debug log. Sounds like this must be an issue. Just FYI

Is that m/c equipped with a normal op-panel or asmart panel?
We have the exact same problem with an MPC 3003 with a normal panel.
These same syptoms coming from different locations is not good.
Anyone have more informations about that problem?
A prediction, wait for much more SC672-11 in the future.

I have a new MPC5503 that did this out of the box as well as the screen locking up, the run up team replaced the ops panel and controller board to fix it but the fault returned. I replaced the bicu, ipu, controller, hdd and another ops panel but I get the screen locking up after about an hour and when I reboot it I get SC672-11. I also replaced the ribbon cables between the boards but still have the issue. With a fax module fitted the fax won't boot up just says loading, without I still get the problem as previously described. Any help would be appreciated.

Have since replaced the USB lead from the IPU and Ops Panel to cure this fault.
