Ricoh 2232c turned Rip Van Winkle

I have a 2232c that just won't wake up. It sits in off mode, with the main power LED active, the hard drives spinning, and the ethernet card alive (but no response on the web server). The operation switch does nothing. Cycling the main power switch puts it back into off mode.

I figured it had blown fuse 91, but I've checked that (and all the other) fuses with a multimeter and they're fine. Might the BCU be fried (LED1 blinks, LED2 is off, I can't find LED3...)? Any other suggestions?

I think this box is 12 years old. Time to replace it!

The 232c is an old box, it sounds like you've got a bad board, or a bad board on an accessory. With the machine off, unplug the ADF, bridge unit, finisher, or any other optional component and see if the machine comes to ready. If it does, keep adding accessories until you get the same result and there's your problem component.

For the record, this machine is only nine years old. You were making me feel a lot older than you should have Eric!

Time for a cost/benefit it seems.

For laughs and giggles, have you tried to reset the circuit breakers on the machine?
This model has a circuit breaker located on the left side (under the fuser door area ).
It only takes a second, may be worth a look

We think alike. Flipping the breaker was the first thing I tried. No luck.

Anyone have any other suggestions on this box? I've been tinkering away but can't seem to find anything wrong with it. Except that it won't fully power up. It just sits there in low power mode, disks spinning, network active, circuit boards active, but never turning on fully.

Could it be either of the PSU boards? Anyone have some diagnostic tricks?

For the record, this machine is only nine years old. You were making me feel a lot older than you should have Eric!

To be exact, the Product Support Guide for this model shows the release date as January 26, 2004. There fore the model is now a couple weeks short of ten years old.

Anyone have any other suggestions on this box? I've been tinkering away but can't seem to find anything wrong with it. Except that it won't fully power up. It just sits there in low power mode, disks spinning, network active, circuit boards active, but never turning on fully.

Have you checked any of the output voltages on the power supply? If any are missing or low, it could be a PSU issue. If you have a blown fuse, and it blows again after being replaced, you have something drawing too much current. If all the voltages are proper at the power supply, check them at all the boards that they go to. I would suspect a problem on one of the 24V supplies. Main power LED only needs +5 volt and the HDD only needs +5 volt and +12 volt. Many years ago I had an analog machine with a similar problem. Two days of tracing wiring and an I found one lead in a harness pinched under a screw.

A Very valid scenario, good point. But there is a point to let RVW sleep.. Just say'in.....

Get your meter out and see what you're getting versus the point-to-point diagram.

Also, unplug the ADF, duplex, take the fuser out etc and try it again. You never know.

Did all this (hadn't thought to remove the fuser... no love). I see proper voltages everywhere, but something just isn't turning on...
