Very small: the very selection of glossy paper as a fuser setting will probably cancel the ability to duplex. Trying to do a manual duplex would probably work, but you'd be running processed paper through the machine for a second time so all bets as to end quality would be in the air.
Why?...Glossy paper is made with CLAY!....It requires extra heat to bond the toner to the surface, it also holds/retains the heat in the paper...once paper starts stacking, and holding the heat, you will have pages that stick together and toner that will offset to touching pages...I have had this happen on HP and Ricoh printers doing color pages.
Best bet is to run a matte finish heavy paper with high brightness to eliminate show-through!
are any chance of print Coated Paper: glossy in duplex mode?
thanks
If you do manage to find a work around, you had better be ready for the non stop calls you are about to be in for. Things like the slightest little mark or deletion, slightest mis registration, jamming at the fuser and worn fuser parts. next they will want the "edge to edge" printing feature (yes it's in the driver) "turned on". Welcome to a world of pain and loss making on this machine
I might sound a bit negative here, but I have been through all this too many times.
the problem is that the client have a konica c253 (sell by our company) who print in that paper with a good strong quality and without any modification.
but if there is nothing to do, patience. thanks to all
When it comes to photo glossy paper, check the lable on the paper pack. If it is labled for "Ink Jet" do not use it on a laser machine. The glossy coating can stick to the fuser belt or at least bubble even in a Production speed machine. If it is labled for laser printers, a 40 page per minute or faster should be able to do duplex. I would still checl with the paper supplier. If they say yes, get it in writing.
Don't adjust the fuser settings, it will not help. Like slimslob mentioned, don't use (glossy) inkjet paper, it will ruin the fusing unit. The MP C4000 is not the same as a printing press...
