Ricoh machines don't like that SD-Cards > 1GB. I only update firmware when it solves a problem or when it adds functionality to the machine. I have lots of machines running with the first frimware versions.

Don't try to repair a good working machine.

      Hi there!
All you say is true eric1968, but our customers like the "older" Ricoh-systems. Since the most of them change to W7 now we have to update . Since the MPC 2800, we use 2GB-cards without problems.
      Greetings...

Well updating the NIC-firmware to make the machine work with Windows 7 is of course a good reason. I use the language SD-Cards of the SP5200 machines to update firmware. They are 512 MB (I think...), and I never used anything > 1GB.

if this is such a problem why not use the remote firmware I know I use an sd card (old habits die hard) all the time but with a laptop it can be faster
are we all just set in our old ways

Unless you have figured out a way to do batch firmware updates with remote, remote firmware is MUCH slower.

If you take in old machines for trade in, harvest the option SD cards from those machines, delete the files from the cards and use them for firmware upgrades. That's what I use. Works great, and not that expensive.
You'll find it convenient to have more than one SD card then, though.
