What a week. Regional bank Admin Office, pole with 2 transformers outside their new building lit up. Took out their stand-by generator, the elevator, 4 MP6002s (no surge protectors - dumbasses), 2 3730 faxes, a couple of printers, and a couple of desktop pcs. We found 3 of the 4 PSUs with obvious scorching, so we orderd 4 new PSUs, which we installed. Wiring all looked OK. Flipped the switches, and they all remained dead. 120v going in, nothing going out. Can't be 4 bad PSUs brand new from Ricoh. Double checked wall outlets, etc., all in order. Called hotline, recommended replacing BCUs, which we did. Flipped the switches, and got nothing. Took one of the controllers and put it in a good machine at another location, worked fine. Got to be a wiring issue, don't you think? We replaced the PSUs in both faxes, and a main motor in one of them, and got them up and running OK. Can't wait for Friday.....

First off, I hope your company is billing for this!!!!!! Now on the 6002's, Do you get 110vac at the psu? if not start where the power cord comes in. Typical Ricoh would have a noise suppression device and maybe a circuit breaker.( I haven't checked a 6002 for the breaker myself). Do you get any dc volts out of the new psu if you have 110vac in??? I would confirm these before I went to the BCU.....
P.S. Have you measured the wall voltage to confirm it is wired correctly and has the correct out put line to neutral, line to ground, neutral to ground ??Mystic Crystal Revelations -

Have you checked the Point to Point to see if there is a breaker, fuse, or something else that the AC goes thru before it gets to the PSU?Comment

Most likely the power supply located in the controller box is taken out. It will give you the same symptom as the main psu being bad.
As a side note, I would strongly encourage someone to convince the customer to file an insurance claim. Write up the estimate to cover every component that could possibly be damaged (meaning any low current circuit board, motors). Many future problems that will occur on these boxes could potentially be traced back to this incident, and your office will be stuck with the costs.Comment

Thanks guys. Oh yes, we're billing everything for this episode, and yes, claims will be filed for insurance. We've checked the wall outlets, are now running power through surge protectors to the machines. Will pass your recommendations on to the techs who are still on the problem. The strategy now is to get one of the 4 machines up and running, and go from there. As I mentioned, we took a controller out of one of the dead machines, and put it in a functional machine at another location, and it did not kill the second machine, so the controller (at least in that one machine where the PSU and BICU have already been replaced) is still good. "Someone" is now tasked with visiting all the branches to find out how many of our machines have surge protectors......Comment
