Wages for Ricoh Dealer Junior Engineer

    Hello everyone,

This forum has helped me out so much during my apprenticeship so thank you everybody, now I hope I have put this question in the right section.

My apprenticeship has now finished, and I am due to renew my contract at the end of the week. I am worried however that I won't get a good rate.

I know it's not polite to ask for personal details, but any Idea on the average wage for a Junior Technician in a small Service Tech Business located in the West Midlands, UK?

Any information regarding the average pay that I might expect would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all.

I don't know about the UK, but in the US copiercareers.com is a pretty good resource for such information.

depends on what your expecting. remember just because you have finished your time doesn't mean your qualified - just look on line for jobs and you will see what I mean when they ask for experienced techs. however there is a difference from starting out to where your at now. how much? not sure wait and see and you will know if its a derisory increase.

I would say, in the current economy, stay where you are.
        1. You have a job
        2. It is probably full time
        3. It probably pays more than minimum wage
        4. Potential new employers might not hire someone who qits their existing job right after being trained. They fear that you might do the same thing to them.

Stay where you are, work hard, build a good reputation with your customers, and the raises will come, company revenue permitting.

          Agreed..!!
NOW is the time where you need to prove that the company's investment in your Apprenticeship was worthwhile.
Show them what you can do and the raises will come.

I agree totally with this. Don't expect to retire any time soon though!

Ok, I'll give it up. I started out with an indy dealer at $5.15/hr, and within 30 days was making $5.65/hr. I had money for rent, food, car payment and party money for the weekends. Life was good. BTW, that was 26 years ago.

Ricoh Direct 16-19k for new starters depending on ability.

                    Dealer should be more.

thanks for the comment, I fully understand I am not fully qualified and I don't meet the 3years experience most ads are asking for.

I just didn't expect minimum wage.

What do you mean by 'new starter'?

'You' or anybody unable to negotiate a higher salary due to lack of experience.

Not a good game to get into if you hope to make money.
