I am working on a Ricoh Pro C901 that we just moved to a new location. It was supposedly working fine at the previous location. Now we set it up again it works fine with just the SR5000 finisher, but when we connect and dock the BK5010 with CF5010, TR5010, and BF5010 the paper goes through the SR5000 finisher and out but just sits in the input of the BK5010. The BK5010 doesn't seem to do anything. I disconnected the BK5010 with the other finishers and ran diagnostics and it didn't have any errors. Is there anywhere to check on the actual copier to make sure it is connecting and recognizing it.

Re: Ricoh Pro C901 Booklet Maker BK5010 Connection Problems
Are you getting a Jam code? With the BK 5010 connected to the finisher, lift the top of the BK 5010 and check the position of the upper entrance with respect to the mount screws and ends of the static on the upper exit assembly of the finisher. Contact can cause the upper exit assembly of the finisher to bind with the exit rollers not in contact. Paper stops about half way between the two. I have had this problem with a BK 5010e connected to a Pro 1107ex and the Jam code was 117. -
Re: Ricoh Pro C901 Booklet Maker BK5010 Connection Problems
The paper does stop half way between the 2 touching the rollers of the Booklet maker, but the exit assembly of the finisher isn't touching the roller on the booklet maker, and I am not getting any jam or error codes on the main machine or on the bk5010e. Also the rollers in the booklet maker are never even spinning. They do when I do the self test on the booklet maker in the service menu on there by itself. But when making a copy it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there any way to check on the C901 is the settings or service menu somewhere that the C901 s even recognizing and connecting to the BK5010e??

Re: Ricoh Pro C901 Booklet Maker BK5010 Connection Problems
If the C901 is properly showing the option for a booklet staple, the main connection is correct. One of the leads in the connection harness is the signal for the BK to turn on it's infeed motor. Check the point-to point to determine which lead and check it. I also think that there is a check point on one of the boards in the back of the BK where you can monitor that signal and manually key up the BK. If the signal there but the BK does not start it infeed, the problem is either the connection board or motor board on the BK.Comment

Re: Ricoh Pro C901 Booklet Maker BK5010 Connection Problems
When I only have the SR5000 finisher attached in the output options it shows Finisher Upper Tray and Finisher Shift Tray. When we connect the BK the only option is Finisher Upper Tray. This is in the System Settings Output Printer. This is the printer only C901 so I don't see all the same options and settings as on the copier version with an ADF. Also we took the back cover off and the LED lights on the BK5010 Copier Interface PCB and the D1 Connection detect LED never comes on, D9 start signal from copier, and D10-12 all never come on.

Also check the printer selection setting on the BK.Comment

Re: Ricoh Pro C901 Booklet Maker BK5010 Connection Problems
We tested the cable from the finisher to the BK for continuity and it tested fine. We sent the copier interface board from the BK and the main board from the finisher to get repaired and both tested fine. I just can't figure out why none of the status LEDs on the copier interface board in the BK are coming on at all.Comment

Re: Ricoh Pro C901 Booklet Maker BK5010 Connection Problems
I have seen this on a pro 907 ect look at the latch the one you kick to disengage the plotmatic is the arm being pushed all the way home so it makes the sensor under the raised plate .. If not the plotmatic isn't register try moving it closer to the upstream device. also this will sound mad add a white sticky lable too the arm as it enters the sensor this gives it a better chance of seeing the arm its this arm and sensor that tells the copier the plotmatic is set this has always been the fix for me and it make sense if you have move to a new location the set up of the units has to be just rightComment

So if the paper just sits in the infeed of the booklet maker its for one of two reasons either it hasn't detected the paper going in or it doesn't know what to do with it going out. Check connection to all peripherals and make sure the machine recognises them too also can you run the booklet maker offlineComment
