Hi

I'm wondering how I can lock system settings etc on a Ricoh MFP, I want to lock down system settings etc so users can't view any info as IP-adress etc. I have tried the Admin Authentication in Administrator Tools, but that only removes the right to edit settings. I want it to be impossible to view the settings aswell.
I guess i have to set some setting in sp-mode but I don't find it.

Admin authentication is what you are looking for select the available option such as machine manage network manage etc. in there.

I don't believe you can hide that info, user codes and such will be. Plus, they can get that info from the driver properties settings on their pc. I'll check further when I get a chance.

I think Teebee is right, you can lock it down so it can't be changed, but I think it will always be available to view. Why do you want to hide it?

What happens when you activate the service mode lock and put a password to prevent the tech from entering SP modes ? I have never played around with it. It may prevent viewing access to all system info...

Off the top of my head...
Remove IP address off operator panel SP 5055 set to 0

SP 5055 set to 0 is the default. It does not prevent the IP Address from being viewed in User Tools. When you set it to 1, it displays the IP Address on the bottom of the display panel during normal operation. Basicly the same as SP 5061 for showing the toner remaining crayons on the display panel. It is helpful, saves having to go into User Tools, when you need to know the IP Address to install the print driver on another computer.

Yes correct.
I always make 5055 and 5061 display by default when installing a new Ricoh m/c...
Plus a sh!t load more like 5045,5812,5104, 5618 etc...
5618 is a good one multi-colour display option.
5841 is good for toner reorder for new customers.....ect,....ect..

My customer wants to hide it since the printer is put in an public area, it runs Safecom Go so no need for anyone to see this information for driver installation etc.

You could completely lock User Tools out on the older kit, older than a 1045, but I don't think it's possible on the newer kit. Administrator Authentication still lets you go into user tools and have a look about, but when you actually try and change anything, that's when you get "you do not have priveliges" etc.

I had a similar question from an I.T. guy last week regarding removing/restricting the job link from the WIM due to security issues. Could not find a way to do this.

Probably easier to restrict access to the web page all together.
