2nd hand copier setup.. accessing WIM and printing issues

    Good afternoon y'all

We have just received a 2nd hand MP C5000 and I have been going through the basic tests before doing a refurb.

This MFP has come from Twente (large dutch IT company) and has been setup with an 'Access Control Range' 010.015.150.001 - 010.015.150.254

    So my issue is this:
I did a print test and it fails every time on our basic office star network. I can ping the device and I can scan to folder with the device. The driver is also flagging up low toner, so there's definitely some communication going on. I can't login to web image monitor either, I keep getting '403 forbidden' when i type in the IP address of the MFP.

Can I disable access rights from the copier itself?

so far I have tried setting my laptop up with IP '010.015.150.002' and subnet '255.255.255.0' (is the subnet correct? there are 4 different Access Control Ranges [networks] setup on this machine. so maybe it should be 255.0.0.0) and attempting to access WIM, but i got the same fault.

I believe this is what's stopping me from printing... I can't seem to make heads or tails of it

Connect to the machine via telnet and execute this command:
    ACCESS FLUSH

exit and than you can connect via WIM.

Sorry, I only have little experience working with networks I'm a sevice repair guy mainly...

could you explain how I connect via telnet?

I can bring up the telnet client in XP, but how do I use it as you've described?

You should have telnet installed on your PC. It is installed by default on XP and you have to install it in Windows Vista/7/8 using this simple guide:
Windows 7 does not have Telnet enabled by default. Follow these steps to re-enable it.

Once you've installed it open a command prompt and execute: telnet

it ask you for a command and just give it this command:
        Code:
o IP_OF_THE_MACHINE (the ip should be in your subnet range, let's say 192.168.1.145/255.255.255.0)
bare in mind there's an o (letter o not zero) before IP wich stands for open

that it'll ask you for credentials (as always: admin/blank_password)

Once you've gained access just execute the command above
        Code:
        access flush
and than you're good to go.
p.s.: I think even your boss don't know how to do it

I did all as described, after entering 'access flush' and hitting enter it did not say anything regarding the status so I assumed it was complete.

I've rebooted the machine, but access rights are still setup.

he could do that or he could do it the easy way and reset the user tools system setting to default by pressing the *key and the system key on the copiers user tools display at the same time :/

OK, I had to logout of telnet to save the changes i'd made... access rights have now been cleared.

I would like to reset system settings as described... do I hold the ./* key then press system settings? (have tried pressing at same time with no result)
can't quite follow your instructions. (is it an sp mode in special?)

secondly there are several options which say I 'do not have the privileges to use this function'

the login option has disappeared from user tools, so I can't login as admin to change this

hold the # key and press system settings, gives you option to reset to factory. also works with copier, printer, fax, scanner. good practice if you're refurbing the device.
