Ricoh 1022 "scanner cannot communicate with server"

customer says hasn't noticed problem with printing but ocassionally when trying to scan gives the message "scanner cannot communicate with server"

seems to happen in a multipage document after third or fourth page, but sometimes work just fine

anything in the copier that would cause this or more of a network issue?

Is this ScanRouter? Is the SR program on a server or a workstation?
If its on a server put it on a less used server, sometimes I have had better luck just using an old W98 machine that isnt being used for anything else.

I would also agree. I'm guessing that some version of Scanrouter is being used, and a delivery server is being selected. I would point it to a server that is not a busy one-it should work ok and stay somewhat reliable.

        "Somewhat" being the operative word.

I used to run SRL on these machines. Personally, I didn't like using a scanner management program, and the later versions with SMB scanning worked much better.

Yep, "somewhat" reliable in the years I've used it.

I had this same intermitten problem many years ago on a customers 1027 and we replaced the NIB, memory and controller which didn't make a difference.
In the end we insisted they moved scanrouter to a different computer and that did sort the problem out.

Have them turn off their firewall especially if it is windows firewall while scanning.
There have been lots of whitepapers on this subject.
I installed the Macafee firewall and I have no problem scanning.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
