[Misc] first copy side letterhead in single and duplex mode

    hello

on the metis MPC4503 (and early models also) I have the following problem: I mean the customer his problem

when you print letterhead you have to set print switch 5 bit 7 to 1
and set in printer setting letterhead to auto

than when you print on letterhead 2 pages duplex and 1 page single ...... the first page is always on the first side of the letterhead

when you make a single copy on letterhead it is Ok
but when you copy 2 sided on your letterhead the first page is being copied on the back of your letterhead

I think it is stupid that if the customer wants to copy on letterhead he needs two trays of letterhead to set because 1 need for single copy en the 2nd need for duplex copy.
It doesn't make sense to me (1 tray face up and the other tray face down letterhead)

and on printmode there is a special solution for this problem

is there any solution (sp mode) that if you copy duplex that the first page scanned is always the facing up side in the tray?

    thanks

No, you do not have to.
If you set in printer settings letterhead to auto, then you must specify "paper type" as "letterhead" in driver settings.
If however you select "paper type" as "plain&recycled" (which is a default value in the driver settings) then machine will treat the paper as plain on both sides and will print accordingly.
In other words, if you set letterhead to auto, then the printer driver must specify if the print job is on letterhead or not.

By default (BitSW5-7=0), at lease 2 separate trays of preprinted paper are required (one for simplex printing and the other for duplex printing). The paper is loaded face-up in one tray and face-down in the other. Configuration of this can be a annoyance for customers.
Note: If the preprinted paper is the same on both sides, then a single tray can be used and BitSw5-7 will probably not need to be changed.- If BitSW5-7=1, only a single tray of preprinted paper is needed for both simplex and duplex pages. Whether or not the pages need to be placed face-up/face-down will vary by model.

      !!!!!!this is not the problem

      it is in copy mode!!!!!

Sorry, I missed the bit that your customer is doing copies rather than printing.

I may be wrong, but I think the problem can be handled by the order that the originals are fed in. Keeping in mind that when duplexing, the secong page fed is printed first.

Have you set the MFD to apply the Letterhead stting for copier mode?

User Tools > System Settings > Copier / Document Server Features > Input / Output > Letterhead Setting = Yes.

This will then apply the same orientation/pagination for the copier as the Letterhead option does in printer features. (Provided that the tray is configured as an orientation specific stock type.)
