5560 accordion jams

Everything looks good in this machine, fuser, feed rollers, etc. However, it keeps jamming at the exit and we have the one sheet that is an accordion. No other sheets are damaged. Clear the jam, machine warms up, jams again after a few copies.

What do we check next on this machine,? The service manual hasn't really helped much.

What part of the 'exit' are you referring to? If it is occuring as it exits the fuser and enters the exit assembly, then one culprit could be a one way bearing at the rear of the exit assembly or a deformed guide plate. Depending on the clicks and your office policy, try and replace the whole unit.

Fuser pickoff fingers/scrapers . Check the scrapers are true and correctly in the home position.
Even a slight bend in any scraper can throw a concertina paper jamb.

There is set of fuser bearings front-rear just before the tranport bed enters the fuser. Check these bearings haven't failed. You will see brown scum around the fuser bed, near these bearings.

Check the exit guide plate does not have an excess of built-up toner causing problems.

Neomatrix and teebee1234 are spot on for this aminal. The one way bearing is probably the most common cause of jamming there though.........

Thanks for the replies. I'll let you know the results once all this snow melts and I can get back to the machine. It hasn't been maintained at all so you all are probably correct about that bearing!

Is it a jame code 014 or 016? There is a plastic one way gear on the exit assembly B1327028, also the fuser pressure roller has a big one way gear on it AB013636 both can cause problems. Is the paper getting caught on a picker as it exits or is going through the fuser and catching when it hits the exit, if its jammed still in the fuser and hitting the pickers i would check the one way in the fuser and picker fingers, if it makes it through the fuser then i would replace the exit one way and clean the shaft, and clean the transport (grey rollers) and check for any warped or bent guides.

I am pretty sure if the one way in the fuser slips it will come through and crash paper around the heat pipe area might give a j014, 16, or 19 code. If your hitting at the exit you get like a 20 23 or 24 code this is usually the exit one way gear.

The one ways are out of stock with our suppliers. We have cleaned sensors & rollers all we can and it still jams. We keep getting 016. Guess we'll have to wait on those one ways to get in stock before we can try again.

No easy answer for this I'm afraid. I've had the issues others have mentioned. Also bearings in exit assembly going bad. the tiny ones on the ends of darn near every shaft in there. If it's an option replace exit assembly. You spend way too much time rebuilding them. Also had the one ways in the fuser/exit drive assembly start slipping. Aren't to hard to replace. Just takes time. Some techs don't even know they're there. These issues occur in all the MPC models and they are basically the same fixes. I know the fuser drive gears are they same in all of them, B132, D014, D081... You can check for slip by using SP5804-109 I think? Just look for fuser drive. Be aware that when you first turn it on it stops after a few seconds. Just turn the motor off then back on again and let it run. If you look for the gears they are in the parts catalog Drive section 2 Items 15 and 24.
