MP C2500 - colour streaks on first few pages

I must admit, I haven't been by to check this out yet, but I replaced the cyan and magenta PCU's just about 2 weeks ago due to streaking of magenta and cyan. They were at about 75k and were obviously in need of replacement. Yellow was at the same level, but not causing issues.
This is a “time and materials” customer, so they decided to wait on the yellow unit until it becomes an issue.
FYI...These PCU`s are OEM Black units that have had the connectors modified to fit (B224 2042)

Customer is now reporting that the same colours are causing issues - but only for the first 10-20 pages in the morning, and then apparently they are ok?

I can’t see it being an environmental thing, because the machine is located in an office on the main floor of a house

I’m at a loss for what would cause that, aside from both PCU’s being defects, but that just seems unlikely to me.

    Any other suggestions?

Agreed. Those PCUs are 80k pms and so is the cleaning unit but most guys let that cleaning unit ride until it fails. I see some go out around PM and others last 120k pages or more. Personally when i replace the black drum i do a cleaning unit with it. Check the PM on the cleaning unit i bet its over 100k.

I've seen them last over 750,000 copies, I am guilty of letting them run until they fail, but I always have one in the back of my car, and if I am replacing several other PM parts then I always replace it if it's over life

The Yellow PCU can be bad too and cause the newly replaced PCU to fail again, I've seen this alot.
Please start you post with brand, model, problem.

Replace the cleaning unit on the transfer belt.

If it happens first thing in the morning then I would suspect the Cleaning Unit.
To replicate the fault do manual MUSIC colour registration, after that the first few prints will have a colour pattern on them.

Pretty silly of me....When I got to the customer, it was very obviously a cleaning unit issue as it was leaving sections of the music pattern behind. They just threw me off by saying that it was cyan and magenta 'streaks' after I had just replaced those 2 PCU's (plus I got the description from a 3rd party, and was not able to ask my own questions). Anyway, thanks to all for the input!

wow 750k thats pretty good i dont think i have ever seen one go that long, i also have only few customer with more then 300k on their machines total, when i see a machine this size hit over 500k and up i start talking them into replacements. I have two customers right now over 1.2 mil on their MPC 2500s and one of them is about to be replaced. I would say the 2500 was a pretty good machine overall compared to some of the models that followed.

Living the tropics here, we've see this every equinox temperature change toward the chilly weather months of the year.
The drum blades get firm/hard in the cold weather and they don't clean the first few pages in the morning...
It basically means your pushing the PCU's to their limits and possible beyond . It's no real concern. The drum rotates the cleaning blade warms up.
