[Misc] scan to folder RICOH shared to everyone else and everyone can access my scan folder.

Hi I need help with configuring scan to folder problem. I just want only the end user of the pc can see her/his file that has been scanned into the pc.

This is how i usually do a scan to folder configuration.

1) I create a folder called scan. Then i share it with everyone.
2) I change the advanced sharing settings to turn off password protected sharing.
3) I get the paths of the share folder and I configure it at the photocopy machine.

My problem here is that I can access the scanning folder of the configured pc from other pc as well. Instead i would like to lock it so that other pc cannot access the scan folder and only the ricoh photocopier has permission to the configured to the computer has the permission.

The photocopy machine i have been using is ricoh mp4000.

In other words, how do i restrict other users which are able to view my folder which i had configured for scan to folder?

Well for one, search the forums there are many many posts on this subject. Two when you disable password protected sharing and add everyone, you enable everyone access. Create an account on a pc with rights and add it to the folder permissions then only that account should have access to the folder...not everyone!!!............. Search the forums, the consortium has many posts for this..........................

I am dealing with windows 7. Soon it's gonna be windows 8. By the way, everytime a mp4000 has been used as a network printer. I can see there is a computer name that comes from the printer. Could I create a user account just for that computer name so that only ricoh can access through the scan to folder?

Create an account called scanner with the needed rights, give it to the mfp and folder only.

Here are some of the variables: which version of win 7, what frimwar on the MP 4000, Win 8, which version, oh smb v3 good luck, without frimwar from Ricoh....... search the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
