    Ricoh JP8500/Gestetner 5499 error - SC06-00

Anyone have an idea of what this error means? Unfortunately doesn't say in any of the manuals...

Also wondering if anyone has spare parts they can sell for this machine.

    Let me know, thanks!

It's under Master eject and compression error. It's a pressure plate error. Just reading from the manual as i've never seen one of these...
Check the service manual pg 4-9(181).

Less than 4 edge transistions of the home position sensor in 3.5 seconds. Check/Empty the master ejection box. The plate that crumples the ejected masters up into the ejection box is in a bind, the box is over filled, the HP sensor is dirty or blocked or bad, or the motor is bad. Can get messy but not too hard to work on.

Thanks I found it in the manual.

now I have another question: How do I enter service program mode? The manual says to key in 'clear modes' then 1 0 7 and then to hold CLEAR/STOP for 3 seconds... is that right? It doesn't work for me... Is there another way to access service mode?

Assuming that all the buttons on the beast are working, I usually hold the CLEAR/STOP key for at least six seconds, same as the MFPs.

I'm still trying to tackle this issue,

When I start the printer up - it rotate the compression plate one way but then doesn't return all the way back to the home position. The master ejection box is empty, and when I remove it the compression plate seems to open and close freely enough.

The compression plate shouldn't move unless you turn the motor manually if its moving freely on its own check that the springs havnt broken or the plate isn't broken.

With the master eject unit removed from the machine, the pressing plate is free to move.

The plate should move only slightly to get back to home position after rotating past it. See attachedHoming Operation.pdf The error code has to do with the sensor not proper detecting the plate position properly or the motor not driving the plate properly. It has been a long time I have to work on one of these beasts but the usual problem was with the motor. Clean and inspect the sensors and gear train. If the problem does not clear, replace the motor.
