[Jamming] Ricoh SP5200 DN - Non feed J004

    Hi all

I've got a big pile of these Ricoh SP5200 DN (older and new machines) throwing tons of no feed J004.

Sep.pad and feed roller changed (shaft cleaned first) without any huge result.

I have fixed the cassette base (they thens to get pulled out of length)

    Any tricks?

    Kind Regards
    Peter

Two things to check right off the bat. First the rear stoppers like to slide back so the spring bumper does not push paper all the way forward in the tray. Secondly its easy to incorrectly install the sep/friction pad, there is mylar in front of the sep pad if you dont pull the mylar out a bit when putting the sep pad in the mylar gets stuck under it and paper will hit the front of the sep pad plastic and not feed. Check the mylar is not bent or stuck or missing from the sep/friction pad.

is it feeding from tray 1 ok, 004 should be non feed 2cd tray unit. you may check for paper or something stuck in the guide going through tray 1, paper from tray 2 feeds through a slot on the first tray and i think there are idle rollers in there on a spring that can get stuck to.

It is generel non feed from all trays, the record holder was one mashine with over 1000 non feed logged

I never liked those rear guides being spring loaded, i had one customer that non fed all the time and everytime i went i adjusted that guide and the next day they would call saying its doing it again. They swore up and down telling me "we aren't stupid we know how to load the tray it cant be that" so i went in there with a metal bar put the guide in place and screwed the metal strap in behind it so it wouldnt move, then had the owner stand there and watch me as i ran 4 packages of paper through it without a single jam, i said here you go have a great day.

Good advice, I will try to make one guide and test this, hope it will do the trick, thanks.

I did a 500 print test once on this model, after approx 475 prints the toner cartridge went off and all prinouts was completly black, I felt so stupid

              Once again, thanks.

              Best regards
              Peter

There's a bulletin that supposedly covers this but we have a 5200 in the field where we fitted the bulletin parts to the tray only to have it work for 2 weeks then fail again.
Whilst we waited for the parts to arrive we had lent them a tray from our workshop 5200 and it ran like a dream..no jams for over a month.
The parts arrived and we fitted them to their original tray and blam...starts jamming again after 2 weeks of use.
We gave up and left them using the tray from the workshop machine as we'd proven that to be a good tray.
The only thing that I've noticed is that the tray one sensor layout is a little different to the other trays and our most common issue is jamming from tray 1.

There's a piece of U shaped plastic that comes with the machine at run up that is supposed to be fitted to tray 1 that does the same thing....sits behind the rear fence to stop it from moving out of position.
In a lot of cases it's thrown away at run up coz people assume that it's part of the packing material.

Try our trick, we fitted the feed roller from a MP 2500, A267 2751, and got a big reduction in non-feed jams.

I just grabbed one from stock to put into my car stock...I'll try this the next time I have a non feed jam call

These rollers are not interchangeable, do you only use the rubber?
