    heat sleeve for mpc5502 machine

Is there any vendor of the film sleeve only for the new type machines, on the HP printers its possible to just replace this film sleeve rather than the whole assy, any suggestions on preventative maintenance of these not already covered in the manual, many thanks

Ricoh is concerned that you might damage the belt in trying to replace it.

We did try it once and came to the conclusion that the time spent pulling apart and reassembling a very complex construction didn't equal the dollars saved.

I have never done the sleeve only but i would agree just by looking at it that the extra time to just remove the sleeve vs putting the whole piece on would probably not be worth the time. It looks like a pain in the ass, after you do 3 or 4 of these it really doesnt take that long to do just the whole piece 20 mins or so. I have had several sleeves damaged from toner build up on the seperation bar I have about 4 machines that after its 3rd heating roller i just left the seperation bar off completly and so far have not been called back to them. I did try updating firmware and such but still they just got junk on the separation bar and ruined the sleeve.

The ones that seem to do this the most are my customers who are running probably more then the recommended yield per month one of them runs about 15k pages a week on it.

The sleeve itself it very sensitive, so don't touch it! A small deformation of the sleeve results in SC540's on the long run. So replace this as a unit.
