    Savin C3535 Add Toner

I've got a Savin C3535 that I brought in to the shop for this issue. Several months ago the machine would say "Black Toner Low" you put a new cartridge in and the message would stay on. It wouldn't shut down until the cartridge was completely empty though. It was due for Black DV Unit and PCU so I started there. The light went away but several weeks later the customer told me the light had came back on but everything was still running. I then replaced the toner near end/end sensor. Light went away and haven't heard anything in several months. Now the machine went completely down saying "Add Black Toner", Tried different cartridges, swapped the auger going into the toner bottle, and the Toner Attraction pump with no luck.

I brought it in and cleaned the rubber hose that carries the toner to the pump. It didn't seem to be clogged but I cleaned it out and made sure there was nothing blocking the path. Right after I put it back on the and fired the machine back up. It came to ready and started making copies, I made about 15 Sky shots and let it sit over the weekend. Came in this morning and made made 50 sky shots and they progressively got lighter but ran them all. Then the "Add Toner" condition came back. It also started throwing SC-360 codes.

Mechanically everything seems to be working, the bottle is spinning and the all the motors are spinning. The hose isn't kinked in any way and there is toner coming into the hose from the bottle. I'm kinda stumped, I don't feel like it is getting to the attraction pump because when I pull that hose off from the pump after it adds for awhile, very little toner comes out.

Any help is greatly appreciated, also all toner and parts are OEM. I'm trained on this model but can't get Manufacture Support since we're no longer a Savin Dealer.

You could have a bad RFID chip on the tonet bottle or a bad RFID board in the machine. If you have another toner available, swap them out and see if the problem goes away. If it does, the RFID chip is bad. If you have to get the machine functional while you get another bottle or order the RFID board, change Toner End Detection SP 3045 from 0 to 1. This turns off the RFID detection. Bear in mind, in this setting, you do not get any toner level indications. All remaining toners show as 100%, but the machine can be used.

You probably already know this, but you never replace toner when the message is "Toner Low". That message is only there to make sure the user of the machine has time to order toner before the machine completely runs out, the machine still has plenty of toner in it when that message appears. The machine will stop printing when it actually needs toner.

I would have to say RFID board also at this point.seen then go bad before. Also make sure that the customer is not storing the used toner bottles near the machine. I have seen it only once in six year the machine still reading the old RFID chip after replacing the tone due to the old toner bottle being to close to the machine. Good. Luck.

I had that same exact problem you had, turned out to be a pin sized hole in the hose from the sensor to the Pump. We vacuumed the hose and had good suction so it was hard to Believe the hose was the issue.

I've tried different toner with no luck. Jon I'm gonna give that a try, The hose is really the only thing left that hasn't been replaced. I'll update when I get the hose in. Thanks for all the help!

remove pcu and look at the gears that is in the rear of the machine, there are 2 for drum and dev drive, getting quite common to see these stripped now. tell tale sign is by looking into the supply hole on the dev unit, if it is overflowing then it is dev drive issue, if it is empty then it is a toner supply issue, both will cause your symptoms.

I know you said you swapped pumps, i will however add my 2 cents i have had one of these machines blow out all 4 pumps 1 at a time in 4 days. i fixed one and the next day a color failed, next day other color and so on until i had all 4 of them. So if you swapped the pump from one of the colors i would try a new pump, or take it from another working (verify working) machine. Some of those pumps fail just by looking at them. Almost everytime i have a no toner on one of these its the pump, Have yet to have any of the other toner items fail knock on wood.

The hose fixed it. Machine is running great now. Thanks for all the assistance! Know on to the next nightmare. Oh the joys of being a Toner Monkey!

Do you have part number for the hose? Or does it come with the pump part # B223-3255? Thanks Dave
