[Jamming] MP7502 SPDF Jam 054 code when Scanning

I have a MP7502 that is jamming in the ADF at jam location 54. It only does it when scanning and if the first sheet makes it the entire job will be ok.

What happens is the page stops at the ADF reg roller and the feed rollers keep feeding causing the trail edge of the paper to get torn or crumpled up.

Any thoughts? There are a few guys on the Ricoh Forum having same trouble and working with tech support who think swapping PCB's is the answer

The first time I had this happen, it drove me nuts trying to fix it. The issue was the belt drive tension off the adf motor in the rear (closest one to center). Loosen the motor and release the tension slightly and give it a try. I'll look for the bulletin that was sent to me from support.

My first question would be is why is it stopping at the registration are the sensors clean, is the belt and rollers good no delay in pickup. is there any thing stuck or sticky at the registration. Is the in way feed bearing in good shape that drives the belt and stuff. I would print the smc and look at the original jam log codes and see how often and at what spots is jamming all the time. I see this sort of thing if the paper catches a burr or sticky substance it stops the paper and the feed keeps pushing for a second until the jam registers to stop which in turn mashes the paper.

I would check the simply things first, clean it and sensors, clean the one way ( i use a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol and spin it in the bearing), check for objects burrs, staples, paper clips in the registration area. Then go from there.

i had this issue a time ago, in my country we use ISO system for paper (A4,A3,B5) and machines come with standard USA paper type, and one paper size sensor are stuck on SADF plate, so paper are recognized with a different kind and length, i think paper size isn't your problem, but sensor stuck could be, look on service mode if paper size are recognizing correctly, look the sensors at left side when SADF cover is open.

by the way, see the blank plate on exposure glass, if u mount machine with this plate inverted or missing a screw this could cause same problem because paper can't pass throw.

        hope this help.

Yes we were finally able to repair this issue by replacing the ADF Drive motor, P/N B477 3721.

We swapped it about a month ago and I just had a chance to follow up with the customer and everything is great!
