Weird if sp 5959-001 is set to 0 for A4 it should be LEF only the tandem shouldn't allow SEF unless the accessory is installed, pretty sure if the accessory isnt there in sp 5959 wont even allow any other size besies A4 LEF and 8.11 LEF if the DLT or what ever that is then you can change it to more options.

Tray two should auto detect paper size if set to auto then the driver set to auto tray with type matched to the machine. Sorry i am not much help on that one unless comes down to a controller issue.

Tell me about it, this one is going over and over in my head, I should be able to just escalate it and forget about it, but I don't work that way. Tray 1 is only LEF, and shows that on the display and in the driver, tray 2 is on auto detect, so I took out their headed LEF paper and put plain paper, SEF in there, and set it on no display, everything shows correct on the panel
Hence why I am probably going to go back there while I'm technically on annual leave, I really want to get my head round this one.
I think the tech specialist is going to order a controller board to take in, just in case, I came out of there convinced that it must be a board problem, but the more I think about it, the more I think I missed a setting somewhere

look at user tools/printer , there's a option to determine how machine will work on printing jobs, if u choose control comand, works with driver option, if u choose the other option(dont remember) machines work with inside control, no matter what u choose in driver, if paper type or size are diferent, allways will cause mismatch paper.

When the customer sends a print job (all users, all print jobs) to the machine, the red light comes on, and paper mismatch occurs, when a tray is selected the job is printed, however, if they have asked for more than one set, then only one set is printed.
When I got there I printed the meter reading sheet and SMC data with no problem, but when I tried to print the config sheet I got the paper mismatch, I also got this when I tried to print the colour test pattern from printer SP. Changing the paper type in tray 1 from recycled to no display allowed the config sheet to print out without problem, although plain paper and recycled should be treated the same by the machine, but it still failed on the test pattern.
My first thoughts were a corrupt RAM, so I did memory clear on printer, NCS and engine data with no joy. I upgraded the firmware to the latest level, still no joy. And, just to satisfy myself that it wasn't anything to do with their network, I loaded the print driver onto my laptop and printed from there, exactly the same. I have escalated this onto our tech specialist within the team, but he can't get in there for a couple of days and has no idea yet what it could be, has anyone else ever come across this problem.
i looked at manual, the option is under user tools/printer features/system/tray setting priority, choose driver/ command in there for tray u want.hope this help.

If you have set the paper weight at the 7501, it may be a mismatch in paper weight. In the driver try setting paper type to "Plain 1 (66 to 80 g/m2)". I just downloaded and installed the driver on my laptop to verify the selection.

You have printed out the non default data for the smc report right?

                  Re: Printing problem on MPC7501

This customer kicked off big time today, so my manager visited them. I gave him a list of all the things you wonderful people had suggested, the mismatch was resolved with auto continue, but it would still only print one set, so he changed printer bit switch 5, bit 1, to 1, and now it is working correctly. I don't know if this is masking the problem, but he thinks the customer is going to upgrade soon, so he's quite happy to leave it like that, it's performing to their requirements
                  Thank you all again

                    Re: Printing problem on MPC7501

So you turned Auto continue off and it quit displaying the paper mismatch, yet still printed the job? I thought that would just make it skip to the next job. Good to know.

Obviously some gremlin got into the machine and changed some obscure setting that made you have to jack with that. No way it could be something got changed on the network printing side.

I have a nail gun ammo dealer that prints all of his carton labels on a c5502 that taught me the hard way about the printer bit switch. These kinds of "issues" always make me wonder how many other options are hidden in these boxes that I don't know about.

Enjoy your vacation - you've earned it!
