    Savin c3535 Image Quality

Hey guys, I'm working with a C3535 that we just upgraded all of the machines in an office to Windows 7 64bit and were using the PCL6 driver from Savin. That was working great until the client tried to print a photo in which Windows Explorer crashed and gave an error "COM Surrogate" error. I upgraded the driver to the PCL6 Universal Driver which allow the photo to print but the quality was horrible. Even on basic images the coloring is off. Is there some sort of setting that I need to change or do i need to use a different driver?

    Thanks for any help.

The latest driver from Ricoh for this model is v3.5.0.0, for both PCL 5c and 6 and v8.63 for RPCS. I would try all three of these before a universal print driver.

If they are printing from a browser i would generally install the standard PCL 6 driver not the universal. As a test if they have another browser installed you could try the same page in a different browser. Also I have seen people save or try to print images they pulled off a browser and even though the image views fine on the pc the data can be corrupt and screw up the image when printed.

If this is something they designed using photoshop or some program just remember what you see isn't always what you get unless your using a cmyk monitor during design.

Other then that run a acc in the user tools make sure the machine is looking correct in itself.

If have seen somewhere, probably here on CTN, that the PCL5 driver actually gives better color rendering. I also agree that the universal print driver should not be used if any other driver is available. If you are having trouble printing from Internet Explorer 9 or later, try using print preview.

The PCL XL family (PCL 6) has always been flaky. With Ricoh drivers, my order of preference has always been:

          1. RPCS (not available on the newer models though)
          2. PostScript
          3. PCL 5
          4. PCL 6

I always stay away from the universal drivers.

Thank you for your sharing. I have never used the standard PCL 6 driver before, so how can I install it?
