If there was a faulty thermostat it would pop a 5XX Code. Wouldn't say it's jammed.

You have to find the sensor that is getting tripped. It's going to be either a very dirty photosensor, a photointeruptor arm/flag is stuck/broke. Look around. Once you find it you will say duh.

      DO NOT DO A 5801!!!!!!

Can we just get everyone to abide by that?

I've only ever had to do one full clear, and that was on the advice of Ricoh tech support since we had truly exhausted all other options.

sorry for not replied sooner, but i was way on a work travel mission , so i've found the malfunction sensor, and it was the left sensor by the fuser unit, the spring got loose and it wasn't doing the reset. replaced the sensor and problem solved. by the way thanks for the sp5803 tip

about the 5801, one of the curious costumers ask me for the sc reset code one day, and i gave him in mine humble consideration. he digit 5801 instead, and it was a pain to bring the mfp back to business again, so 5801 never never !!

The problem I have had in the past with letting users reset fusing errors is that they will keep trying. I had a customer actually melt the pressure roller to the hot roller. I always tell them that if the code comes back, wait at least 60 minutes before trying to reset it again.
