Has anyone come across problems with the ADF tearing up the originals? And also LOUD grinding noise in the ADF. There is no obstruction in paper path.

It looks like it pulls the paper with a lot of torque, to the point where you can see the paper sort of slightly curl when it goes pass the pickup roller.

I havent seen this problem but it sounds like there is too much pressure between the pu roll and the sep pad.
Remove the ADF roll assy and make sure the bearing is seated right. Also make sure the sep pad is seated all the way down

      Modification Bulletin 02-20-2008

      1) The shapes of the ADF exit tray and paper input guide were changed.
      2) The shape of one of the “ANALYSIS ROLLER” was changed.
      3) A paper deflect guide was added.

Reason: To minimize non-feed jams in the ADF.
Important: When you replace the old parts for the first time, make sure to install all four new parts together as a set.
