    [Misc] B2050151 PCU Modification

Can a B2050151 PCU be modified to work in a MP2852? They are slightly different and the B2050151 doesn't seem to fit very well in the "52" model.

Have you tried a type 1027 PCU?

    They fit the 2851s

From the Product Support Guide, the PM kit for the PCU is the same but the development case is different. You could try swapping the front drum stay as that is where the alignment pin is. Old trick to use a type 1027 PCU for a type 230

So why not simply PM the original unit then?

Sounds like he's looking for a way of consolidating parts or keeping a pre-built unit on hand to help speed up replacement.

Slimslob: For the old 270 machine's I'd just snap off the extra pin on the 1027 PCU.

He was talking about the type 1027 PCU. No pm kit.

I was actually referring to PM'ing the D1203000 PCU that has apparently failed in his MP2852, if he can't get his hands on a type 1027 unit

Admittedly, that is what I would do. PCU PM kit is the same as for the B205.

Actually, the front drum stay is exactly the reason why the PCU won't fit. If I take it off, the PCU slides all the way in. Thanks!

This all started when I damaged the D1203000 PCU and put a B2050151 PCU in it's place but forgot to put the drum stay back on, it appeared to work but I didn't snap off the extra pin in the back so after a day it worked it's self out and I got the PCU not seated message. rthonpm was right, I was looking for a way to consolidate parts.

Okay, seems we have varying posts as what needs to be done to the 1027 PCU to be used in place of the d1203000. Can someone explain to me what needs to be done excatly? I would really appreciate it. The 1027 is so much cheaper especially when they break something on the d1203000 one and would like to use the 1027 instead. Thank you in advance.

I think that if you use the drum stay off the D1203000 you should be fine, just verify that the back end of each PCU matches and make modifications if needed.

Front drum stay from a D120 will not fit onto a PCU type 1027. The difference between the 1027 and the older 270 was a small plate, part index number 8 in the frame section of the parts catalog, that the pin on the drum stay went into. Remove that plate and the PCUs were interchangeable. The plate is still shown in the parts catalog of the of the D084 but not the D120. Do a visual check of the D120 frame and see if there is a removable plate.
