Updating Cheetah / Smart Operation Panels?

Anyone know how to access the ' recovery mode ' on these Android ops panels so you can update the O/S on them?

Ricoh have omitted this key bit of information from the SOP service documentation which is really helpful to a field engineer, thanks.

If I remember correctly, it was covered in the online Tier 1 training course for the MP C6303 or the course on the SOP.

I checked the training material all it says is there are 3 service modes for the SOP but like the SM does not give any further details on how to enter any of them.
These smart panels were not covered on the training coarse I attended as they didn't have a machine with a SOP at the time and there does not appear to be anything on the tier2 that I can see either.

Go to the TSC site and look for video nuggets on the left side of the page, from there you can search or page through, lots of nice video examples.

IN the D148 Service Manual under the SOP Bookmark it talks about updating the OS firmware (Section 4.1.3 and 4.1.4) When you download the OS firmware to youy PC there is a prerequisite step that is explained in the SOP ReadME NotePad and it must be done or you will never get into the recovery mode screen.

You basically have NetBSD and Andriod O/S running in parallel, it just looks and feels all a bit odd to be honest.

I doubt we will be recommending these 1st generation SOP panels over the normal integrated legacy op panels at this point.

That will only work if the sales cretin doesn't mention the fact you can play Angry Birds to the IT monkeys.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

Yup lol, I don't think that's what Ricoh had in mind for these SOPs.

BTW I managed to get a score of 153!

After the Ricoh boy's did the sales launch for the SOP, I walked up to the panel and pulled up a porn site of bouncing boobies. My boss laughed, The Ricoh boy's just looked at me and said "it figures he would be the one to do that".............

Some of those Ricoh lads don't get out / get let out much lol.

Bouncing boobies is perfectly acceptable to demonstrate the clarity of the screen if you ask me.

Actually, I kinda like the smart panels; they're kinda cool.

The issue I have with them is they don't support many enabling products, which I am responsible for a ton of. Ricoh exclusive products aren't all supported yet, let alone stuff from other vendors.

They will eventually, but not yet.

Your right on KenB!! My initial intervention with customers that got this, is why do I need to access the internet from the copier when I can do this at my desktop???

And where are the iSDK apps ???? and their support????????????

I think that support for the apps is waiting for the apps themselves and the apps are waiting for the iSDK which is waiting for who knows.
