ricoh mp5002 web noise is the web drive motor

I had an mp5002 that made an awful groaning noise (intermittently). Traced it to the web unit and removed it. The noise was gone, so I let it run a few days with no web unit which was nice and quiet. I ordered a whole new web unit (web +frame, gears, etc.) but when I replaced the web unit, the noise eventually came back! I ended up replacing the web drive motor ax04 0167 which fixed it. Now I have another machine doing the same thing and ordered another motor.
Just a heads up to save somebody the time and money I wasted ordering a new web unit.

Yep, I had the exact problem on two MP4002. Where do they make these motors now? It is only been 3 months in the field and motors start to crap out.

Right now the dealer I work for is having us remove those web units and just keep them out of the machine. We're seeing if they have any negative effect on the life of the fusing rollers.

I haven't heard any motor noises, but we see a lot of the gears in the unit breaking/spinning freely and allowing too much slack in the web. It then blocks the paper and causes jams.

In my experience, the motor is not the noise-maker but the web when it does not advance will start making noise.
