Have you calibrated your monitor to match the gamut of the copier? Is the image CMYK or RGB? The copier can only produce CMYK and so has to convert RGB to a close approximation; whatever you see on the screen may not be what the copier can produce. This is a copier, not a production printer, colour reproduction is never going to be exact. The asterisk means that is the currently selected option.

I had some luck changing between RCPS -> PCL6 -> PCL5 languages - the output of each one is slighly different.

Also PCL5, while it usually doesn't allow for higher resolutions, it sometimes has brightness/contrast/saturation controls that help in that respect.

The asterisk indicates that the 1200x1200 is the machines default setting. The reverse highlight indicates current selection.

But this model don't have RCPS driver.

Check the SP 5990-005 print. If it lists RPCS firmware, then you can use the RPCS driver for an older color machine.

Well, there is still PCL5 and PCL6 to choose from, maybe try switching between those two?
Just curious, if possible could you tell us what programs the machine is printing from? If printing is the only issue, the programs could be the problem.
At least if copies are correct that is something I'd look into.
