mpc 2003 making its own copies

I have a customer who swears on thier new box the 2003 they will make copies of some stuff and days later they machine will spit out those copies on its own, just randomly reprints copy jobs from days before. Since its random its hard to confirm or test this, the firmware is up to date, they said its only copies not print jobs or faxes.

Anyone ever heard of a machine throwing out previous copy jobs on its own?

I've heard of it when people re-use paper in the trays, but never just spontaneously doing it.

I've heard about this too, but I never saw it happen. I know April's Fools Day is long gone, but don't let someone get you...

I have had something kind of like that. it was a bad print button, the other time it was the board the print button was mounted to.
try resoldering the print button connections and reseat the connectors

We had a customer with a MPC3003 early release - they also made claims that the machine would reprint some copy jobs from 24 to 48 hours prior - sometimes reproducing 100's of sheets.

In this case I downloaded the latest firmware versions and updated the lot - no complaints since.

It is worth pointing out that in my opinion the xxx3 series are one that you really must keep the firmware right up to date. They can be very buggy with earlier versions.

I don't work on that model, does it have the document server?
(Just a guess, sorry if it was a waste of time.)

I have had two Ricoh machines that have done this , One was a mp2852 and the other was on a new MPC2004 . Both machines would reprint copies that had been made days or even months ago. They would spit them out at ramdom and do multiple copies. Tried firmware updates didnt fix it. Ended up fixing it by turning on the Hard disk wipe and encryption setting so it would clear the data after each job

That sounds like a fix to me

I very vaguely remember a customar told me the same thing...
But I still do not believe it.
It's a problem you must rely on what customer tells you and that is rather hard.

I had a customer complaining of the same issue, however they were using a 3rd party software package, which was somehow saving previous prints and printing them again.
