[Misc] Transform an Aficio 2045 in an Aficio 2045E

    Hello
I have a customer that needs to have Scan to folder... But he have only an Aficio 2045, with his machine he can only scan with Scanrouter.... But he needs to scan to a server with Windows 7 that didn't support Scanrouter software.
We have an old broken Aficio 2045e, the "E" series support scan to folder, the machine turns on and the controller seems to be ok.... Now I'm wondering.... If i swap the controller, bicu and ipu with the customers 2045 i'll be able to use scan to folder?

Might that work? yes, it might.....but why would you want to get involved in that nightmare?
The machine is old and outdated. Why try to put 'lipstick on that pig'?

If there was ever a candidate to upgrade to something newer and more compatible, it is this end user.

What is broken on your "E" version machine? Is it just normal things like fuser, drum, etc. I would suggest it might be a better option to put the consumables from your end user machine in the "E" version machine.

Otherwise....You have 3 options in my opinion:
    - Scanrouter (I hate even saying that word!!) can actually be installed on Windows 7 with some minimal tweaking -I've done it dozens of times. Search the forum
    - Setup scan to email on the 2045
    - UPGRADE MACHINE (my personal favorite)

      Hello
      thanx for the answer
The problem is that this customer "loves" his machine....... Can you explain how you set up scanrouter on a Windows 7 environment? Thanks!

In the "E" series machine the only thing that works is the electronic part....

I seem to recall this can't be done because some of the electronics are different between the "E" and the non E machines..............

Take sandmanmac's advise, UPGRADE the customer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This machine belongs in a museum. It's old and it doesn't support today's hardware and operating systems. It's the same as trying to upgrade a 30 year old car to run on electricity, it won't work...

(BTW, Windows 7 is not a server operating system).
