    Mpc5503 PF drive unit failure

2nd one on this model range. Both with the same failure in the pulley system rivet bending causing a knocking noise. Doesn't cause jamming just the noise.

Anybody else suffering this or just a bad few isolated cases?

Haven't particularly seen this yet, but these things are a hotbed of service calls for other noise-related things.

Mechanically, I've had a transport motor go bad in the #3-4 paper feed units and that's all so far.

we've got 2 of these out at the moment and haven't come across a fault... 'yet'

They've been installed 3-5 months both with LCT's fitted.

Yep, just had one. The drive unit has just gone back to Ricoh for a warranty claim so in about 2 years time an upgraded part should be released.

I've just received the OK on the warranty claim, they didn't ask for the part back for inspection or even want the SMC report, just paid out with no questions asked. That says a lot about the build quality of these new '03 range.
