    ADF Misfeed MPC305SPF

    Hi

Anybody having troubles with MPC305 ADF jams? Machine will intermittently jam. Paper halfway stuck in the ADF. Jam Code 054, which according to the machine is ADF exit sensor lag. Only see registration sensor on this machine.

I have replaced friction pad , feed tyres, cleaned rollers, and registration sensor. Machine has 60 000 copies on. Not sure how many paper through ADF

    Any ideas?

Original jam 54 would be lag jam, i.e. the trail edge of the paper did not clear a sensor at the right time. I would look in the area of where the lead edge of the paper stops. Look for a scrap of paper, paper clip or staple. If it stops at the entrance to a roller, check the drive for that roller. Also check that the ADF is properly detecting the length of the paper.

Primary problem with these DFs is the separation friction pad ass'y does not sit flush under the paper feed roller.
(Take a look with a torch when the lid is closed and you should see what I mean).

There was a factory mod applied at some point where they added two small clear strips of mylar either side of the friction pad ass'y at the front.
I've had to trim back the corners of these mylars on some DFs as they can touch and impede the paper as it's feed.

Cypher, I have noticed that many time on the MPc305 and MP301's. The front edge of these mylars is too high so I trim them down so that they just barely are over the plastic and slopped so that they present a ramp and not a stop to the paper.

I have had the same problem. It appears that the mylars are attached to thin foam pads. I believe that they were added to keep the friction pad from moving from side to side. At that time I could not find them listed in the parts catalog.

I have this problem at the moment. Did the mylars resolve this issuse. ???
My error is . The adf feeds in the paper and the ejects it ( simplex and Duplex ) but does not appear to see the trail edge. and detechs a jam.

I have changed, reg sensor, and df interface board. got it going after changing the reg sns and the tested for ages all ok but as soon as i put the rear cover on it failed again..

            any ideas welcomed

with some of these we will hear a groaning or "too much torque" type sound as well. replaced pickup tire/belt shaft assy for some and tweaked frame to relieve pressure on atleast 1 and took care of problems.
