Hello,

can anyone give me a clue for what exactly the acronym SMC stands for ?

I mean the stuff you get when you print the 5-990-etc...

It reads "SMC Report" on top of the page, sometimes it is also referred to
as "SMC Data Sheet"

I've been asking people about that who are in the business for decades,
but no one can give me a precise answer, just wild guessing.

Maybe "System Management Center" or "Status Monitoring and Control"...

Can you help please ?

I believe SMC stands for SUPER MULTI COATED. It refers to the coating of a lens.

It's a document put out buy the Ricoh Learning Institute. That's training and education side of Ricoh Americas Co.

It is something stupid like "settings, maintenance, and counters". I recall them making a big deal of it in training but it went straight into the "who cares" section of my brain. The good news is that I don't recall it being a test question.

From the training info "Serviceman and Machine Communication"...told you it was cheesy

SMC actually stands for Service Man Condition report. It is there to give you info.
