MP C2051 colored hash marks intermittently at bottom of page.

I have a customer that is very intermittently getting colored hash mark patterns at the bottom of the page.
They did not have any samples to show me and I could not duplicate the problem.
They asked me about it today when I finished working on the machine for a jamming issue, and was ready to leave.
I spent an additional 30 min. trying to duplicate the problem with no luck. I aked them to keep an example for me on my next visit, and told them that I would reach out to my friends on my favorite forum sight to see if anyone has experienced that problem.

Any recommendation or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I have nothing to add or suggest, you just sort of opened up a window for me to give a brief rant on one of my biggest pet peeves!
Just like you, the customer mentions in passing while we're there for another reason, that they're very concerned that the machine squeaked, moaned, (or like yours), printed out some 'speckles' a couple of times.......a few days ago, and maybe I should look into it...

    Strange sound?
"What did it sound like? where did it seem to come from, etc.?" (The person with the problem isn't in today)

    Copy quality issue?
"Can you give me a sample"? (we didn't keep any)

"What would you like me to do about that?"
I mean we have a tough enough job at times already, but if I can't duplicate the problem, then seriously, "What would you like me to do about it??!!"
    Short rant over.
    Thanks!

The hash marks sound like ID sensor marks. I would replace the ITB cleaner unit

I have seen this once or twice before and concur that replacing the ITB cleaning unit should take care of your issues.

Take a look at the PM counter. If it is anywhere near 120k and the customer does any amount of color work, it is toast. They are not nearly as robust as say a MPC3300 ITB cleaning unit.

I had this problem once. There is a line of like 3mm in the bottom of the page?

I solved this doing the Auto Color Calibration, located in user tools>maintenance.

It's a really simple procedure but really solved my problem.

My default response to csutomers that do this is:

            It's a "feature".......

If they can't produce a sample, or it doesn't squeak when I'm there, then as far as I'm concerned, it didn't happen
