Will a Ricoh SPC830DN Printer feed A3+ paper

Hi all, I have been asked by a client to supply them with a good workhorse colour printer which can print edge to edge A3, so basically a machine that can feed slightly larger than standard A3 paper. I am not concerned over the coverage as its a toner extra contract but cannot find anywhere that this printer can fit this printer apart from on an Australian site and the local dealer rep said he was sure it does.

    3 questions then

    will a SPC830DN feed larger than A3 paper ( ie. A3+ )?
If yes then what is the paper size the customer will need to order?
Does this feed it from the paper tray or the manual feed table?

    Thanks Guys in advance.

The Metis range can print to SRA3 with an additional option, any other edge to edge print is not worth it.

The SPC830DN can only feed A3, not A3+. It can print A3 from the paper trays if the weight is <= 256 gr/m2 (169 gr/m2 for duplex printing). Maximum paper weight is 300 gr/m2 from the by-pass tray.

As Ruben says, the Metis-series can print A3+, but only with the optional A3+ transfer roller.

BWT, you can find this information on every Ricoh website....

You can turn on "Edge to Edge" Printing in the driver options. It isn't perfect you get a white margin on the leading edge but it is an option. I've attached a A4 sheet printed "edge to edge" with a sheet of A3 magenta as the back ground so you can see clearly the coverage.

This was printed on a MPCX003 probably a 3003 but similar results should be possible from the equivalent printers.

And soon followed up by calls for massive fuser jams and strange marks all over the pages (caused by staining to the PTR roller because of no rear blank edge.

EVERY single time we have had a salesman sell a machine and fiddle with it to eliminate void edges it has ended in massive loss of profit, pissed off customer and endless problems.

Buy a machine that can print SRA3 and then guilotine it down (just like the big boys do).

We had this exact same request from one of our hospice clients.

We ended up providing them an MP C5503 with SRA3 Transfer roller fitted (the trays are by default able to hold A3+ but unable to print without the enlarged transfer roller)

It has worked for them without a single fault (yet), although I'm not too sure if they even use it, as last time I was doing a checkup they had A4 paper in that tray.

I wouldn't recommend enabling edge to edge printing as this will negate the whole 'work horse' thing and potentially cause issues with toner dropping off the edge of the paper. It's just not worth it in my opinion.

The SP8300DN looks like it will accept this same optional extra available to it. (but that's a black and white printer) I haven't had any experience with the SPC830DN
