Hello, my customer is reporting that she heard a "zap" and saw a spark (supposedly) and there is no power to the machine. It is on an ESP surge suppressor. Before heading over I thought I would ask if this happens very often, I assume the power supply got toasted, which is strange because it's supposed to be protected by the ESP. It is in a home though. Also, does an older model's power supply work in this MP 4500? I have a 2035 in stock for parts. Thanks for any help!

If the part number is different, I wouldn't try. I'd be surprised if it were any more than a blown fuse though. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Howdy. I switched power supplies on these machines a number of times. Sometimes it is enough to replace the fuse has melted.Comment

Thanks for the tips, it was the round transistor at the bottom middle of the board that has a hole blown in it (underneath, when you bend it up you can see it) and it darkened the area right around the fuse. Has anyone seen this happen? Man, that fuse did not good not did any of the four at the top of the board nor the ESP surge suppressor.
The homeowner had the electrician there because her tv upstairs was also blown. There was not a storm when this happened, so I don't know the details yet per the electrician. I'm not covering this under maintenance, they are aware that is not something that is covered.Comment

Depending on what the end cause of the electrical issue is, you may want to have the customer put in an insurance claim. They may even be able to wrangle an up to date machine out of the deal.
