SP C430 printer image quality issue.

Well it's got me beat! Don't think I've seen this one before. Any suggestions? All I can think of is a laser problem.

Does it have the same blue background on all prints?

What does the SP mode print pattern look like? (SP Mode > select Printer service mode > 1103 nr 2)

What have you swopped so far?

1103 [PrnColorSheet]
1103 001 ToneCtlSheet Prints the test page to check the color balance before
1103 002 ColorChart and after the gamma adjustment.

I'd say the current is a lot stronger now, or maybe the tide is on the way out

What have you swopped so far?

Took the cyan unit out, looked at it, put it back in and the problem disappeared! And the field tech tells me the cyan unit has been changed.

So far I've resisted the temptation to just pack my tool bag and run away "cos I just know it will do it again. I just can't see how a drum/dev/charge problem would cause C/Q problems going across the page.

If you have properly labeled the lead edge, the main problem I see is not going across the page. It is going down the left edge of the page. I would say the cyan development unit or the shutter is sticking on one side.

Definitely short edge first, that the only way you can get paper through a SP C430. I am leaning towards a laser problem as the white areas are in the direction of the main scan. It also appears that the laser isn't at the right power until it has to draw an cyan image on the drum then works for a few millimetres then karks it again.

Yep, I was right! (for once) It was the laser. Replace the entire laser unit and it hasn't done it again.
Now for the warranty claim.

This is when it pays to be the biggest dealer in OZ, we're the 400 lb gorilla!
Don't dare knock back my warranty claim or my boss will be straight on the phone to your boss.............
