    Ricoh MP c2003 Black Density

Hello. I need to increase the toner density of black on a mp c2003 printer.
as you can see on the image the black is not even, if i can increase the toner density to paper should be great to solve this issue. anyone can explain me how? i dont have the service manual, maybe there are something there to help me. thank you

Seems to me you've got a transfer problem. Does it only happen on black? Does the image get better if you change paper?

with thick paper it is a little bit worst. but happen on all paper. i forgot to mension. this is ceramic toner. so it may need some adjustment. if you can help me it is reaaly nice. i saw the other post you are interested on information about ceramic toner. this is a ceramic toner print. all ok exept black. it needs mabe more voltage to make transfer better. any ideas are apreciated.

      thank you

You could bump the dev bias up some, maybe 100v on the black to see if that improves. I've not seen a 2003 in the wild yet but if it's anything like the other models of the Metis range, you might not be able to convert this thing to ceramic toner successfully, they struggle enough loading OEM toner.

Does the Printer SP colour test pattern look as bad? I've had a few DV units showing signs of leakage, similar to the fault BK xx02 units.

The poblem is not as bad as in the picture. I played a little with photoshop for you to see more easily. I think this printer is ok for ceramic toner, because the new printers most of companies modify now is the 3003. So this is very similar to 2003. I think increase the bias voltage on black should solve the problem. Can you please give me the option number? I dont have the service manual and i dont want to change the wrong setting. Thank you.

SP 2351-001 increase by 5 for black. This increases the transfer to the ITB. For full color, you can use 2357-001 to 004. Add 2 to 2357-004. Use that value for the other three. See the attached for more information. Since you are trying to darken the black, you may not want to lower 3501-001. Service Program (SP) Settings.pdf

Have you ever had this problem on previous models? If so, how did you solve it? If you know how to solve this problem on other machines, maybe we can extrapolate and find a solution for this one.

I'm confused - the image on the left of the bald man looks like it is printed in color as it has a magenta tint, but then the finished product on the right looks like it is printed in pure black. You're saying they're the same job?

We noticed the new MFPs (not just ricoh) are all became noticeableweaker in solid colors - not shure if "old school" actions like forcing toner supply/run dv init is a wise idea - it might reduce the consumable/pm lifetime.
