    Scan to folder splitting PDFs

    I've got a Ricoh MFP (floor model) and I apologize that I don't have the exact model number in front of me that when users scan documents in, it will split the documents into multiple PDF's with the same timestamp but will append a dash and a number, for example 08181081-1 and then another that is 08181081-2 and so on. In turn this is corrupting the PDFs.

    It's worth saying that the unit is scanning over a VPN to a remote file server.

    Is there a way around this and to stop the splitting?

      Turn off divide and send in user tools scanner features, send settings. Then max out the email size.

          Even when it's just scanning to folders? I thought those settings were only for email.

              Sounds like it's set for 'Single-page' PDF rather than "multi-page"

                      I missed the file server part. sandmanmac is most likely right on this!!!!!

                          Well that all depends on the model # doesn't it? It's also in the user manual.
                          But to at least look at/over-ride the default settings, most machines have a "scan settings" button on the touch screen, and you will be able to at least see what it's currently set for, and you can change/ over-ride it to see if it makes a difference

                              Most newer models, from the scanner screen press File Type and Name (or is that name and type?) and change the type to multi-page PDF. Press OK. Press the Program button, Press save as Default, you may be asked to login, press yes to confirm.

                              Default on older machines is set in the scanning user tools.

                                  As mentioned by others, it does appear that it's set to single page pdf. But in order to have a different file name for each job, go to scanner SP1015 "time stamp to file name" and change the setting to '0'. This will add the minutes and seconds to the file name, making each job unique (conversely, it will remove the time stamp if the job is named before scanning) . With the default on (1), it adds the truncated time stamp at the end of the file name if it is inputted before scan (ie 'test' comes out as 'test_20140618'). Since you're not naming the file before scan, it uses the same date for each job with the addition of its numeric place in the order of scanning. Personally, I think it's pretty stupid to have this as default.

                                      slimslob is 100 percent bang on I default all of our machines with that procedure
