    8001 HDD capacity

Hi Guys and Gals. I need to replace a hdd in a D062 series machine. It has a 160G in it, and I cant find one that small locally for a fast fix. What is the largest off the shelf drive that works in this model?

Not a clue. I've put a 500gb on an MPC4000 and it liked that. You could always get a 320gb and partition it down.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Thanks, TM. It's good to know a 500G is possible, and we can get 320's locally.

Same here, we can rarely find the default 80GB or 160GB HDD that ricoh fit as default. So we get the smallest size we can from our local supplier and partition it to the same size as the original drive. Haven't had an issue yet.

If the machine doesn't have too long to go on its lease and will not likely end up back in the field, you may want to consider a refurbished drive.

They can be had on line, quite cheaply, and are available in the smaller sizes.

I recently found a 250gb SATA drive (for an eCopy PC) for $27. Since it will be coming out in a matter of months and going to the great PC graveyard in the sky, it made sense.

I don't normally recommend refurbs, but in some situations it works quite well.

You may want to check out "microcenter.com", that's where I get mine, but I am fairly near one of their stores, so I get them there.

Could have gotten a refurb 160 from Fryes, which is local, but I don't trust refurbished sruff. Too long to go on the contract.

Good call; stick with new in this case.

Again, refurbed only works in certain circumstances, such as the one I mentioned.

Put in a 320 or 500 and let the machine partition it. Ricoh boxes will partition a new drive to the size that it needs as long as the drive is the correct size OR bigger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Done this many times no problem, even though Ricoh says you could kill a pcb because your using more current with a bigger drive............
